Water line break cause of flooding at Frontier lot
SOUTH DEERFIELD — A water main break caused an explosive sound heard under the ground late Tuesday afternoon in the Frontier Regional School parking lot.
According to Roger Sadoski, the water superintendent for the South Deerfield Water Supply District, at 2:47 p.m. a water line broke, sending water bubbling up to the pavement through a crack and flooding the school parking lot.
South Deerfield police and fire responded.
The cause of the pipe burst is unknown at this point, Sadoski said.
The town isolated the small sinkhole that formed at the edge of the parking lot exit. It plans to have water service restored to the school so it can operate today, Sadoski said.
