Wendell election paper pickup deadline today

WENDELL — Nomination papers for the annual town election on May 5 are available from the town clerk and must be picked up by today. The office will be open from 2 to 4 p.m.

Nomination papers must be returned to the Board of Registrars by Monday. The clerk’s office is open 9 a.m. to noon that day.

The following positions up for election: Selectboard, town moderator, one year, cemetery commissioner, two Board of Health seats, one a two-year term, assessor, town clerk, tax collector, treasurer, Planning Board, five years, tree warden, one year, road commissioner, two School Committee seats, two library trustees. Most are for three-year terms except as noted.

Town Clerk Gretchen Smith said there are no contests so far, with a single candidate for every seat. The annual town election will be held on May 5 with polls open from noon to 8 p.m. The deadline to register to vote is April 15. Registration information must be up to date. The deadline to obtain an absentee voter application for any election is noon the day prior to the election.
