Vandals target tires in Sunderland
SUNDERLAND — Residents of Squire Village Apartments and a neighboring street were the victims of malicious vandalism over the weekend as someone punctured the tires of 40 vehicles, according to police.
Sunderland Police Officer Brenda Tozloski said that anywhere from one to all four tires on each car were deflated.
“We don’t know if it was a power tool but it was something that could make a small puncture,” Tozloski said.
Tozloski said some of the damaged vehicles were reported Saturday night, and the overnight officer drove through the area and noticed more. All were parked in the area of the apartment complex and the street behind it, South Silver Road.
There was no other associated vandalism to suggest a motive, Tozloski said, and there were no large parties or anything similar.
“Just people minding their own business,” Tozloski said.
Police estimated damage in the range of $6,000-$10,000, and asked anyone with information to call the station at 413-665-7036.
“We do have a couple of leads that we’re following,” Tozloski said.
