Hello neighbor. Congratulations to our neighbor Tom Williams of Shelburne, who recently received the National Guard Legion of Merit award for outstanding service. Tom served in the military for 42 years. It took more than a year for a two-star general at the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C., to approve the award, and from what I’ve heard and read, it is well-deserved. Tom retired in spring 2015 and received the award this past August. The citation Tom received was for “exceptionally meritorious conduct” and “outstanding service” in a succession of positions of increasing importance and responsibility over the years.
