Minor vandalism occurs at GHS construction site
GREENFIELD — Two minor incidents of vandalism at the Greenfield High School construction site have workers there beefing up security at the facility.
On Wednesday morning, the construction crew found tools and project materials scattered about the site. Nothing is believed to have been stolen, said Neil Joyce, an employee of the project management company Construction Monitoring Services.
Over the weekend, someone broke into the site and discharged a fire extinguisher inside the building, said Joyce. There was no damage.
Joyce said that tools are typically locked and secure when Shawmut Construction and Design and its subcontractors leave the site each night. He isn’t sure if that was the case on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
The site is surrounded by a fence and monitored using video surveillance. Shawmut Construction and Design, who is leading the construction project, will be taking extra precautions going forward, said Joyce.
