Rowe voter sign-up Monday ahead of $100,000 spending request
ROWE — A voter registration session will be held on Monday, at the town clerk’s office from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.
This is the last chance for residents to register to vote before the special town meeting scheduled for Jan. 9.
The School Building Committee is asking residents for permission to spend $100,000 from the town’s Capital Stabilization Fund — in case the former elementary school’s septic system fails to meet state Title 5 requirements in a future state inspection. The money would be used to pay for a new septic absorption system if the existing system fails. If the school septic system does meet state regulations, then the money, transferred to an escrow account for this purpose, would be returned to stabilization.
Passage will require a two-thirds majority vote. The meeting is to take place at 6:30 p.m. The Finance Committee has unanimously recommended passage of the article.
