Rowe school budget hearing set for Friday
ROWE — The Rowe School District is proposing an overall level-funded budget for the coming school year and will hold a public hearing on Friday , at 9 a.m. in the Town Hall.
The $1.4M budget request represents a $1,256 increase, with high school-level costs for Mohawk Trail Regional and the Franklin County Technical schools dropping by about $30,000 because of tuition decreases. The biggest budget hike, of $27,824, is the result of the three-district agreement for shared services provided to the Mohawk, Rowe and Hawlemont school districts.
Since Rowe’s elementary school burned down, operational cost savings for the former school appear to be offset by costs to lease classrooms and use of facilities in the Hawlemont Regional School building.
The two school districts have not yet signed an agreement to share the Hawlemont building for another year, but they are expected to do so.
Rowe School Committee members are expected to adopt the budget at their next meeting, on Feb. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
