Orange woman charged in stabbing
ORANGE — A local woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend Tuesday night.
Tracy Clarke, 35, of 335 North Main St., was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, after police responded to a domestic disturbance at her residence.
When they got there, officers found that her 38-year-old boyfriend was bleeding from a one-inch stab wound in his left hand, according to Orange Police Chief Robert Haigh Jr.
“The wound didn’t go all the way through his palm, but it was pretty deep,” said Haigh. “It looked pretty bloody in the pictures (officers took). People’s hands and heads tend to bleed more than you’d think they would.”
Haigh said a steak knife was used in the attack.
He was unsure what the couple was arguing about when the boyfriend was stabbed.
Haigh said the victim was taken to Athol Memorial Hospital, but his name would not be released until police receive word on his condition.
“It certainly wasn’t a life-threatening injury,” said Haigh. “I believe stitches may have been required.”
Haigh said Clarke was arrested without incident, and was released on bail, scheduled to appear for an arraignment Friday in Orange District Court.
