Quabbin Harvest open house today

ORANGE — Downtown will be buzzing with activity tonight. Quabbin Harvest Co-op, in preparation for its opening, will hold an open house between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at its soon-to-open 12 North Main St. location.

In addition, the next movie in the series of Friendly Town Movies in the Park, “Frozen,” will take place in the Quabbin Harvest parking lot at dusk. Both events are free to the public.

Quabbin Harvest Store Manager Julie Robinson along with several co-op board members will be available during the open house to answer questions and show community members around the former bank into a “friendly and vibrant grocery store” and then head outdoors to the Quabbin Harvest parking lot to see the movie.

The store has pushed its opening date to Sept. 10. Volunteers are still working on finishing touches and others are needed to help — specifically, this Friday and Saturday morning — to put together shelving and complete the painting. Those who can lend a hand are being asked to contact the co-op through its Facebook page, North Quabbin Community Co-op, or to stop by the new storefront.
