Neighbors: It’s time to get outside and meet one another
I hope you had a great week, even if you had to work. The weather was perfect on Thursday, anyway, and I’m hoping it is today. I have been off since Wednesday and have had a lovely time.
It’s that time of year, and I am meeting more and more of you on the streets of Franklin County. You all have so much to share. I hope you keep doing so.
I don’t have a lot for you today, because most of your neighbors asked me to run their announcements for this weekend on Tuesday.
What I would like to do today is remind you that I’d like to hear from you. What do you want from the column? Is there something I’m not giving you enough of — or something you’d like to see included that hasn’t been yet?
Would you like to hear even more about your neighbors? If so, what are some of the things you are interested in hearing about?
Many of you have written or called and said that you like to look at all of the listings so you can make plans for your week or weekend after each column is published.
Just drop me a line or give me a call. My contact information is listed below.
Have a fabulous weekend.
And now on to a few more events happening over the next week:
OUR NEIGHBOR LARRY JUBB SR. had an oak tree cut down and cut up into 14- to 16-inch lengths. The wood needs to be split.
Larry would like to offer you the opportunity to buy it, and he plans to donate the proceeds to Wounded Warriors. For more information, call Larry at 413-772-6252.
LAST CALL TO GET YOUR SUMMER EVENT listed in The Recorder’s Summer Valley Guide calendar, which comes out on June 5. The deadline for submission is May 24, so please send complete information to Chris Harris at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 413-772-0261, ext. 265.
WHAT’S OLD THIS SUMMER? Tell The Recorder’s Chris Harris about exhibits and events that will be held at your history museum, as well as events planned by your historical society, and Chris will include them for free in The Recorder’s Summer Valley Guide. Call Chris at 413-772-0261, ext. 265 or email her at email@example.com with all the details. Deadline: May 24.
HOW DID YOU GET TO YOUR WEDDING? Was it in an unusual way? Please Send along a photo to Editor Chris Harris, who would like to include it in an upcoming “Celebrations” supplement. Email her at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Chris at 413-772-0261, ext. 265. She can scan in a printed photo.
OUR NEIGHBOR BETTY HOLLINGSWORTH IN DEERFIELD is looking for help to flag Deerfield cemeteries in time for Memorial Day.
She is hoping that some of you Deerfield High School graduates will call her to help on Tuesday.
She will be flagging the cemeteries, beginning with Brookside Cemetery on South Main Street, at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, and the rain date will be Wednesday at the same place and time.
For more information or to sign up, call Betty at 413-665-4614.
ON WEDNESDAY, THE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS FAIR will be held in Greenfield’s Energy Park off Miles Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair will be hosted by the Green River House.
I’m told that there will be 25 local agencies there, as well as about 20 vendors.
Mayor William Martin will speak during the opening ceremony at 10 a.m. and there will be performances by artists of the local “recovery” community.
The RECOVER Project, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, will be there with a “spectacular display” at about 12:30 p.m.
It sounds like we shouldn’t miss this one.
