Pipeline meeting planned in Orange

ORANGE — A public forum on land issues concerning Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co.’s proposed Northeast Energy Direct project is planned for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Community Church of North Orange and Tully.

Speakers will include Northampton attorney Thomas Lesser and Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust Executive Director Leigh Youngblood.

The free talk, sponsored by the church and by North Quabbin Pipeline Action, will focus on land and legal issues along the pipeline route, which is planned to transverse nine Franklin County towns from Ashfield to Orange.

Ivan Ussach of North Quabbin Pipeline Action will give an update on statewide activities planned by pipeline opponents in the coming weeks and offer background information about the pipeline proposed to run from Pennsylvania to Wright, N.Y., and ultimately to Dracut, north of Lowell.

A question-and-answer period will follow the formal presentations.

The Community Church is located at Main Street and Creamery Hill Road in North Orange.
