Workshop: Financial skills for town officials

Training series starts Wednesday at transit center

GREENFIELD — The regional government is inviting town officials and volunteers to a workshop aimed at financial skills for town officials.

“Show Me the Money: Financial Skills for Selectboards” will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Olver Transit Center.

“The workshop will provide invaluable finance information as we enter budget season,” said Franklin Regional Council of Governments officials. Rick Kingsley, data management and technical assistance bureau chief for the Division of Local Services Section of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue will facilitate the workshop. The workshop will focus on the tax recap, levy limits and Proposition 2½, state aid, local receipts and enterprise funds, and free cash and stabilization funds.

The FRCOG annually hosts a series of trainings aimed at building the skills of Franklin County local officials.

All Selectboard Series workshops are free to the public and held in the first floor meeting room at the transit center at 12 Olive Street.
