Join us in making book with early photos of Franklin County
Photo collection starts today at Greenfield library
The Recorder is working with the Pediment Group of Vancouver, Wash., to publish a unique, hardcover book featuring images of early years in Franklin County.
The project will feature historic images from Historic Deerfield, the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum, the Wendell Historical Society and other local organizations.
Local residents will also be able to participate in making the book. The newspaper is seeking photographs of people, clubs, church groups and school class photos from the mid-1800s through the 1930s. Pictures of events, including parades and sports, are also welcome.
The submissions must be actual photographs or postcards. Images will be scanned and returned.
The first date to submit photos is today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Greenfield Public Library.
Other dates include Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum, Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Deerfield Community Center and Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Greenfield Public Library.
