Police find pot field in Leverett

LEVERETT — Police are investigating a marijuana field discovered in the woods off Route 63.

According to Police Chief Gary Billings, police found and pulled out 21 marijuana plants in an area near the Sunderland town line on Wednesday night.

For two days, police watched the area to learn who the grower was. When no one appeared, police worked in the dark for two hours to pull the illegal plants from the field. No arrests were made.

The street value of the plants is between $5,000 and $8,000, Billings said.
