‘One of Greenfield’s libraries’: Franklin County remembers public servant William B. Allen

GREENFIELD — Longtime public servant William B. Allen died Saturday, and town officials and leaders say his passing is a big loss to the town, because he was one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable public servants they’ve ever known. “I look at Bill’s passing like one of Greenfield’s libraries just burned down,” said Scott Conti, chairman of the Board of Licensing Commissioners, which Allen chaired for many years after he retired. “He had such deep knowledge of the infrastructure of the town.
