Mohawk enrolls first Chinese student
BUCKLAND — Mohawk Trail Regional School has enrolled its first Chinese student for the coming school year.
According to the meeting minutes of a School Committee session, Mohawk has its first tuition-paying Chinese student, who will be joining Mohawk as a sophomore. His name was not given, but in a Skype online interview with Principal Lynn Dole, he said “he was drawn to the variety of learning opportunities at Mohawk, the sense of community, and in the potential to develop his English skills immersed in a small and supportive school environment,” the minutes say. Also, this new student plays the cello and is interested in working with Mohawk Music Director Scott Halligan, who is an accomplished cellist.
