Letter: Clear way to hydrants

How would you like to work for the fire department with no water to put out fires? Fire hydrants are the source of water for the fire department. They use a two-foot wrench to loosen the nut and clamp a hose, turn the gate on to obtain water. We, the public should be helpful in clearing the snow from the hydrants, so they can be accessible. Most fire vehicles travel on the roadways/highways. We should clear the hydrants on the road side as well as the sidewalk side.

We thanked the military, we thank the police; now we should thank the Fire Department with action. In Greenfield, hydrants are yellow. Let’s see a lot of yellow. Hope we never need the use of one.
