Inmate jumps from 2nd-tier jail cell
GREENFIELD — An inmate at the Franklin County House of Corrections injured himself jumping from the second cell tier to the lower level, according to the jail.
FCHC Superintendent David Lanoie said a Pod A inmate, a 21-year-old South County man, jumped from the mezzanine and was taken by ambulance to Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
The incident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Lanoie said the man received stitches but was medically cleared and quickly returned to the jail, where he was put in a special cell until his mental health has been cleared.
Lanoie said the man told him he jumped for fun.
