Cindy Sheehan to give talk  on war-tax  resistance Friday

Peace activist and war-tax resister Cindy Sheehan — known for camping outside then-President George W. Bush’s Texas ranch — will give a presentation on Friday from 7:15 to 9 p.m., at Amazing Planet! Farm & Justice Center, 218 Depot Road, Williamsville, Vt.

Her talk is titled, “Peace Mom: A Mother’s Journey through Heartache and Activism.”

Sheehan’s son Casey was killed in the U.S. war on Iraq. She came to international attention in 2005 for her extended antiwar protest as she and many others camped outside Bush’s ranch. On April 4, the eight-year anniversary of the day her son was killed in action, Sheehan began a “Tour de Peace” from his grave site in Vacaville, Calif. This cross-country bicycle trip ended in Washington, D.C., on July 3.

Sheehan’s presentation is open to the public. The theme of the gathering is War Tax Resistance in Connection: Helping One Another. For those attending the presentation, a donation of $10 is sought to defray her travel costs.
