Water pipe leak near Town Hall repaired
GREENFIELD — A town Department of Public Works crew was greeted at about 7 a.m. Friday with water bubbling out of the road at Newell Place and Court Square, the driveway that leads to the back of Town Hall and the church.
DPW Field Superintendent Marlo Warner said his crew dug down as soon as the break was discovered and found that a small feeder line to the main line had sprung a leak.
Warner said the DPW planned to shut the water off while it repaired the line. That was at about 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
He said he didn’t expect the water to be off for more than an hour and said the only two places that would be without water during that time were Town Hall and the Second Congregational Church.
“It wasn’t as bad as it could have been,” said Warner. “It didn’t have a tremendous impact and it was a perfect day to fix it.”
Warner said the DPW had a small crew in on Friday.
