Crowds gather on the field at Greenfield Community College for the annual Green River Festival in Greenfield. The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce has shot down rumors about the long-running event, including one that had the festival moving to a new location.
GREENFIELD — The lineup for the 27th annual Green River Festival has been announced.
The two-day event starts July 20 and will feature more than two dozen bands on three stages on the Greenfield Community College grounds.
This year’s acts include Gogol Bordello, Brandi Carlile, The Ryan Montbleau Band, and Heather Maloney. But there’s much more than music. There will be food and crafts for sale, dancing, kids’ activities and, of course, hot-air balloon rides. When the Green River Festival was first held, in 1986, it was a hot-air balloon festival with a little music; now, it’s a music festival with a lot of hot-air balloons.
Tickets are available at a discount until April 16 and early birds can buy all-weekend tickets for $75. After that, weekend-long passes will cost $90, and single-day tickets will go for $65. Tickets at the gate will cost $75 for each day, but all-weekend passes will no longer be available.
Early bird tickets, as well as the full lineup and more festival details, are available at www.greenriverfestival.com, or from the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce in Greenfield.
After April 17, tickets will also be available at World Eye Bookshop in Greenfield and Florence, Turn It Up! in Montague and other locations like Elmer’s Store in Ashfield.
If you’d like to schedule a hot air balloon ride, call 413-773-5463, or email email@example.com. Balloon rides are $250, and come with a one-day festival ticket if pre-ordered.
