Greenfield woman ID’d as body found in Connecticut River

SUNDERLAND — The body pulled from the Connecticut River last week has been identified as a missing Greenfield woman.

The state medical examiner confirmed that the body recovered June 25 was that of Rebecca Streeter, 35, of Camp Avenue, according to Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the Northwestern District Attorneys Office.

Streeter was last seen Feb. 25. After her disappearance, police found that her car, keys and cell phone were left behind at her home. Greenfield police said there were no signs of foul play at her house.

Streeter’s home was at the bank of the Deerfield River, just upstream from where it empties into the Connecticut River. In March, several emergency workers searched the area by boat and helicopter, but did not find anything.

Streeter’s cause of death remains under investigation, according to Carey.

Her family has set up a crowd-funding website to cover Streeter’s funeral costs, at
