TFHS principal leaving
Gardner accepts post in Worcester County
TURNERS FALLS — The Gill-Montague Regional School District has another administrative opening.
Turners Falls High School Principal Patricia Gardner announced to staff this week that she has taken an assistant superintendent’s position closer to home: at the Southbridge Public Schools in Worcester County.
Gardner entered the district in 2011 as the Turners Falls High School assistant principal and advanced to principal in her second year.
This year, Gardner was the sole internal candidate in a pool of three finalists for the superintendent’s position, losing in a 5-4 vote. She was also a finalist for superintendent of the Southern Berkshire Regional School District earlier this year.
“I love Turners and the students, which made this decision not exactly a ‘slam dunk,’” said Gardner.
“However, my sights have been on leading a district and this opportunity is a step in that direction, allowing me to work with one of the Commonwealth’s most successful and respected master superintendents,” she said.
