New Erving emergency director sought

ERVING – As the anniversary of last year’s Halloween snowstorm approaches, the town’s chief emergency management position is in flux.

The Board of Selectmen last week accepted Luke Hartnett’s resignation as emergency management director and response coordinator, and this week appointed Police Chief Chris Blair as an interim replacement.

Last year’s Oct. 29 snowstorm left thousands across the county without power for days and put emergency management in the spotlight for a second time following Tropical Storm Irene in August.

Town Administrator Thomas Sharp said Hartnett cited personal reasons and the board accepted his resignation with regret.

Sharp said Blair has served as emergency management director in the past and the town will advertise for a permanent replacement.
