DEERFIELD — A free workshop for parents of struggling readers will focus on the importance of spelling.
“Spelling Matters: Building Correctness through Understanding” is set for Nov. 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Deerfield Business Center, 110 North Hillside Road. Participants will learn how to analyze English words — break them apart — for meaningful, sensible spelling, improved reading and vocabulary enrichment. Presenter Leslie Chalmers Gravel is a licensed and certified speech and language therapist working in private practice in the Pioneer Valley. There is no charge, but those interested should reserve a spot by calling 413-330-4118 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
