Frontier adopts policy for out-of-district school busing
DEERFIELD — School Choice students will now be allowed to ride the Frontier Regional School buses as long as the stop is on a regular bus route.
On Tuesday, the Frontier Regional School Committee adopted a policy to allow Choice students to ride the school bus if the stop is an existing one and if there are seats available. Parents also have to complete an application.
There are no additional costs for the school, Frontier Superintendent Martha Barrett said.
Currently, the Conway Grammar School and Whately Elementary School follow similar policies.
The policy came from a request last year by one couple that asked to have a daughter dropped off twice a week at a relative’s house in the Frontier region.
In the four Union 38 elementary schools districts, there are four Choice students who have requested to ride the bus.
