South Deerfield Fire Department to hold open house

SOUTH DEERFIELD — The South Deerfield Fire Department is inviting members of the community to its station for an open house.

The event will take place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Through-out the day, the fire department will conduct live demonstrations of rescuing a person from a smoke-filled house, and a Jaws of Life extrication demonstration with a crushed motor vehicle.

Fire Department staff will be on hand to promote fire prevention, answer questions and give tours of the facility, located at 84 Greenfield Road, South Deerfield.

In addition, the firemen’s association will be providing hot dogs and snacks and beverages. Deerfield Ambulance staff will also be available for questions, and Deerfield Police will be providing Child ID kits. Smokey Bear is expected to visit as well.
