Deerfield Old Home Day set for Saturday

SOUTH DEERFIELD — On Saturday, the Deerfield Recreation Committee is holding the annual Old Home Day in the downtown village.

It kicks off with a Deerfield 5K road race for walkers and runners. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the Frontier Regional School cafeteria. The cost is $15. Race starts at 9 a.m. from the Frontier parking lot. The first 50 runners will receive a souvenir.

A second race, the Deerfield Mile, for children in kindergarten to Grade 6, will start at 9 a.m. at Frontier. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The cost on race day is $15.

The South Deerfield Congregational Church at 71 North Main St. will also offer a food and tag sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Tilton Library will also hold its annual used book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Deerfield Town Hall.

The Deerfield Elementary PTO will have a Fun Fair at the elementary school from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Fun Fair Raffle drawing will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Also at the school, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Deerfield Police will be handing out Child ID kits. The Greenfield Kiwanis is also doing a bike rodeo with a bike obstacle course, fingerprinting and photos. Children will also receive a free bike helmet.

Local musician Wildcat O’Halloren will play on the South Deerfield Town Common from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. His band plays a variety of music from blues to rock. The rain site is the Deerfield Elementary School.
