Public views sought on Deerfield open space Wednesday
DEERFIELD — The Deerfield Recreation and Open Space committees are holding a public forum Wednesday, where they will ask residents to think long-term regarding open space preservation and recreational improvements. The forum is part of Deerfield’s update to its Open Space and Recreation Plan. The plan is a long-term vision and seven-year action plan for the town and its residents. The plan’s goals and objectives will help guide decisions regarding issues such open space preservation in coming years. Deerfield’s plan was last completed in 2006. The town needs an updated, state-approved plan to apply for open space and recreation grants.
At the forum, residents will be asked to discuss the future of the Routes 5 and 10 corridor, potential locations for new recreation fields and river access, and implementation plan. The forum will also help inform the development of a public survey that will be widely distributed later this spring.
The forum will be 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Deerfield Municipal Offices.
