Conway to create committee to lead treatment plant study
CONWAY — A volunteer committee will be formed to develop ideas for the direction the town wants to move for a proposed sewage treatment plant for the center of town.
The Planning Board and Board of Selectmen agreed at a Monday meeting that a volunteer committee would be best to write a request for a feasibility study.
At annual town meeting, voters supported $12,000 to explore the possibilities of creating a municipal treatment center.
The town doesn’t have any specifics in mind yet. The committee would develop ideas as to where the town could locate a treatment center or a community leech field.
Some ideas include a sewer plant in the areas of Main and River streets and parts of South Deerfield Road and Ashfield Road.
The Planning Board initiated the process in an effort to promote economic development in the downtown. All the town’s homes and businesses use private septic systems.
