Christmas tree bonfire moved to Jan. 11
CHARLEMONT — The Charlemont 250th Committee has moved the date of its annual Christmas tree bonfire to Jan. 11, due to the current storm. Also, the committee has announced that Christmas trees will be accepted from residents of any town.
“We’re looking for more trees,” said Jerry Gosetti of the committee, which is raising money for the town’s 250th anniversary celebration in 2015.
Trees to be burned may be dropped off at the Hawlemont school yard after 4 p.m. on Jan. 9 and 10, or anytime on Jan. 11. Donations will be welcome for the tree disposal and for hot cocoa, food and beverages that will be served on the premises.
The event runs from 2 to 8 p.m., with the bonfire itself starting at 4 p.m. There will also be a raffle, with tickets available for sale.
In case of rain, the event will be moved to Jan. 12.
