Friday is deadline to sign up to vote in Colrain
COLRAIN — The last day to register to vote in time for the next special town election is Friday, and Town Clerk Robin Hartnett will hold special voter registration hours that day from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m.
The Aug. 18 special town meeting is to vote on buying a trash receptacle for the town transfer station. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the Town Office.
Arms Library seeks user comments
SHELBURNE FALLS — The Arms Library is conducting a Strategic Plan Survey of library users, to find out what library users think of current services, how they use the library and what programs and services they would like to see in the future. Copies of the survey are available in the library, during regular business hours, and they are also available online through August. Library Director Laurie Wheeler said the survey results will help the library to develop a future strategic plan, based on input from library users.
Shelburne Falls sewer commissioner chosen, more needed
SHELBURNE — After a year or two of no sewer commissioners, the Board of Selectmen happily appointed John Walsh of Main Street to the Sewer Commission, and are hoping that additional residents will also volunteer to serve. The sewer district serves both Buckland and Shelburne residents who live within the Shelburne Falls area, but in recent years, the Buckland and Shelburne boards of selectmen have had to double as sewer commissioners. In Shelburne, none of the selectmen live in the part of town served by the Shelburne Falls Wastewater Treatment Facility.
Architect Mattei hired for roof job
SHELBURNE — Architect Joseph P. Mattei of Shelburne has been hired for $2,500 to design and oversee the roof replacement project for Memorial Hall.
