Nomination papers ready for Buckland election

BUCKLAND — Nomination papers are available at Town Clerk Janice Purington’s office for those interested in running for election. Those who wish to run for a town office have until March 13 to get their nomination papers, which must be returned with town voters’ signatures by 5 p.m. on March 17 in the Town Hall.

As of now, incumbent Selectman Robert Dean had not yet decided whether to seek another term of office. Dean, who was Buckland’s town administrator for nine years, has been a selectman since 2008.

Also Glenn Cardinal, who was appointed just this month to fill a vacant seat on the School Committee, has not yet decided to run for his own three-year term on that board.

The following positions will be up for election on May 5. The incumbents are listed, and all are interested in seeking re-election, according to Purington. All are for three-year terms, unless otherwise noted:

Selectman (Dean is undecided); Town Clerk Janice Purington; Assessor Pamela Guyette; Board of Health Terry Estes; Constable Robert Howson; Finance Committee Ben Murray; Moderator (one-year term) Phoebe Walker; Buckland Library Trustee Amy Love; and Mohawk Trail Regional School District Committee (Cardinal is undecided.)
