Staties help Marines on Toys for Tots

The Massachusetts State Police began accepting toys this week in the agency’s annual effort to supplement the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program.

The state police and Marines ask donors to give new, unwrapped, nonviolent toys designed for either boys or girls up to 12 years old. Toys can be dropped off at any State Police barracks through the campaign’s Dec. 14 deadline.

At Christmas, program coordinators distribute the toys to less fortunate children with the assistance of local social welfare agencies, church groups, and other community agencies. It is also possible to donate money or request a toy for a child through the Toys for Tots website, .

The area State Police barracks are located at 289 Mohawk Trail in Shelburne 413-625-6311, and in Athol at 2289 Main Street, 978-249-4341.
