Police Log, Nov. 9-Nov. 12

Orange, Nov. 9

9:40 a.m. — Shelburne Control got a report of a motor vehicle operating erratically on Warwick Road, and it was stopped on East Main Street where the operator told the officer she was on her phone; he advised her about that behavior.

10:02 a.m. — Report of a breaking and entering on East River Street, report taken.

3:14 p.m. — Control advised of a 16-year-old boy making threats to harm himself; officers responded, youth went to the hospital with his mother.

7:30 p.m. — Report of a shoplifter on East Main Street; report taken.

Orange, Nov. 10

8:02 a.m. — Report of a car versus a deer crash; no injuries reported; the deer was gone; report taken.

9:19 a.m. — Officers on Holtshire Road to arrest Devin Michael Hurlburt, 22, of Holtshire Road, on three court warrants.

11:02 a.m. — Control reports a minor two-car crash in the parking lot off East Main Street; no injuries reported.

3 p.m. — Control reports a two-car motor vehicle crash with injuries on South Main Street; on arrival, all those involved were treated and transported to Athol Memorial Hospital by Orange Fire Department Ambulance, and both vehicles were towed after an investigation was completed.

8:22 p.m. — Control got a call from Dexter Street reporting kids are in front of her house causing an issue; and on arrival she told the officer she had issues with these children in the past, and she was concerned that they might be damaging her property; one was also yelling at the reporting person; the children were spoken with, and a parent as well.

11:02 p.m. — Loud noise reported on Russ Street where the caller says there is a loud party at a neighbor’s, and they believe there may be underage drinking; officers dispersed the party, and the incident is under investigation; alcohol and marijuana was seized.

Greenfield, Nov. 10

7:22 p.m. — Fire alarm from Arch Street locale; fire officer on the scene reports nothing showing; police dog called in to make a track, which ended at Chapman Street location; under investigation.

7:47 p.m. — Officer on Deerfield Street assisting person retrieving his 7-year-old from his ex-wife, whom the child was visiting.

8:52 p.m. — Burglar alarm at the Ford garage on Main Street; key holder was called and advised he needed to respond to secure the back door.

Montague, Nov. 10

3:47 p.m. — Caller reports being threatened and harassed by another male who is continually calling; officer found that the issue was the ex-boyfriend didn’t know he is now the ex-boyfriend, and now all people involved are aware of the current situation.

6:51 p.m. — Caller from George Avenue reports they left this afternoon at about 2 p.m. and just returned to find the doors to their home open, and they believe the home was entered; the caller says her husband checked the home and no one is inside; officer found no signs of forced entry; under investigation.

Orange, Nov. 11

8:45 a.m. — Larceny reported on New Athol Road.

10:13 a.m. — Control took a report of possible breaking and entering on Russ Street; officer investigating.

12:01 p.m. — Report from Control of a male and female disturbance on North Main Street; both units responded and officers spoke with both people, who advised it was all verbal, and it is now over.

8:50 p.m. — Control reports a motor vehicle rollover on Fryeville Road, but unknown at this time if it is in Athol or Orange; fire and police sent from both towns and found the truck flipped over, ejecting a passenger, and came to rest on the bridge abutments; two were transported to Athol Memorial Hospital with injuries, and one was flown by helicopter from there; on-call wrecker was summoned; accident cause is under investigation.

Montague, Nov. 11

12:40 a.m. — Caller from Dell Street reports she was in the bedroom when she heard a loud “thud” against the rear door of her home; she was advised to lock all doors and windows and remain inside until police arrive; officer checked the exterior of the house a couple of times, and found nothing out of the ordinary.

State Police, Nov. 11

11 p.m. — Wladyslaw Jantas, 22, of 20 Summit St., Belchertown, arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at the Route 2 Mobil gas station in Gill.

Greenfield, Nov. 11

7:03 a.m. — Plant malfunction alarm from the waste water treatment plant on Deerfield Street; DPW advised.

7:41 a.m. — Domestic disturbance on Forbes Court where the reporting person stated that her daughter and boyfriend are arguing and she is worried that is going to get physical, and she is very concerned for her daughter; officers found it to be a verbal domestic, and the male left the residence.

11:18 a.m. — Report of a breaking and entering and/or larceny on Davis Street; officer to investigate.

1:15 p.m. — Caller from Silver street reports he lost a transmission that fell off the back of his truck, no action taken.

2:14 p.m. — Officer on detail reports a domestic disturbance on Main Street near the Toyota garage; officer found a female pushed or swung at a male; report filed.

3:01 p.m. — Malicious destruction of property on Silver Street where the reporting person states someone went through the car wash, and used washing equipment to wash oil and grease, causing damage to all equipment.

3:42 p.m. — Caller from Chapman Street reports breaking and entering into her vehicle last night, and a purse was taken; report filed.

3:45 p.m. — Caller from Chapman Street reports she is receiving threats from a man who is in prison, that he will harm her when he gets out; officer to investigate.

4:10 p.m. — Officer out with a person on an ATV at Kimball Drive and spoke with him about using the ATV on conservation land.

5:51 p.m. — Caller from Pierce Street report he is being harassed by a female at this location; officer to investigate

7:55 p.m. — Caller from Woodland Drive states there are a few people in the woods behind his house with flashlights; officer checked area, but they had moved along prior to officer’s arrival.

8:33 p.m. — Caller states she believes her home was broken into at some point during the day, it was discovered when the son returned home to an open door, and things missing from the residence; officer investigating.

9:46 p.m. — Caller reports an accident on Smead Hill Road about 150 yards off Green River Road, with a male who is bleeding and slurring his words; officers found the vehicle rolled over, and the operator was taken to the hospital for treatment; vehicle towed.

10:06 p.m. — Reporting person on Elm Street states her niece has been out of control all night. Officer speaking with those involved.

Greenfield, Nov. 12

6:52 a.m. — Reporting person states a customer noticed that someone threw a rock through the front window at Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters on Federal Street, and the rock is still in the building; officer investigating found the small rock must have been thrown through the window sometime between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., but no suspect shown on surveillance camera.

7:26 a.m. — Caller from Coombs Avenue states her vehicle and that of her neighbors were broken into last night.

7:37 a.m. — Report of an accident on the Mohawk Trail, two vehicles involved, but no injuries reported; under investigation.

8:10 a.m. — Caller from different Coombs Avenue location also reports a breaking and entering into a motor vehicle; under investigation.

9:22 a.m. — Alarm from the wastewater treatment plant on Deerfield Street; DPW notified.

Montague, Nov. 12

9:37 a.m. — Larceny reported on Fourth Street where the caller says someone took her son’s bike sometime overnight; the reporting person checked the neighborhood and located the bike near the Turners Falls Pizza House.

10:27 a.m. — Caller from East Chestnut Hill Road reporting her neighbor’s goats are on her property again; animal control officer is en route and requests an officer go to the workplace of the goat owner to tell them to retrieve his goats, which was done.
