Turners Falls man arrested on OUI charges, cops say he backed into cruiser

GREENFIELD — A Turners Falls man was arrested on drunken driving and other charges after he backed his car into a parked cruiser, according to police.

Dion W. Cadiz, 24, of 88 2nd St., was arrested Wednesday night on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, driving without a license in possession, and failure to use care in backing.

Cadiz was driving by a work detail near the intersection of Turners Falls and Loomis roads at about 11 p.m. when the detail officer asked him to stop the vehicle, according to Chief Robert Haigh Jr. Haigh said Cadiz placed the car in reverse instead of park, and backed into the cruiser.

The patrol car sustained minor damages, said Haigh, and the officer was not injured.
