Police Logs, April 15 to 17

Orange, April 15

8:13 a.m. — Shelburne Control got a call about a young child outside on West Main Street, chasing a dog; officer responded and located the child who was on a porch there, and then went back inside his apartment; the officer spoke with the mother and a report was filed.

8:48 a.m. — Control reports an accident on Holtshire Road with a person with a possible broken hand; both units responded; report filed.

4:20 p.m. — Caller reports a tree partially blocking one lane on Wendell Depot Road; officer responded and reported all appeared fine.

5:43 p.m. — Control reports a tree that fell on a house of High Street; on officer’s arrival, help was on the scene, and they were all set.

8:30 p.m. — Officers on Winter Street to serve a warrant; arrested Jessica Bourque, 34, of Winter Street, Orange, on a court warrant.

9:50 p.m. — Walk-in to the station wanted it logged that her car was vandalized a few times over the past couple of weeks on East River Street.

Orange, April 16

1 a.m. — A man was located on Mill Street and placed in custody on a probable cause from Athol Police; arrested was Alan D. Hatch, 43, of Prospect Street, Athol, charged with threatening to commit a crime, to wit, murder, and assault (domestic).

Greenfield, April 16

2:04 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported from area of Hillside Park off Conway Street where the caller says there is a white motor vehicle in the parking lot driving around with people on the hood; officer spoke with those involved and they were advised in regards to their behavior and actions.

3:05 p.m. — Caller from area of Holy Trinity Church on Main Street reports the flag at the church is on the ground and the reporting person is concerned with it being stolen; dispatch called the church office staff and advised them of it.

4:28 p.m. — Caller reports a car into a house on Chapman Street; officers and fire department sent; fire command requests the building inspector to be notified; WMECO also notified; BHA is on the scene; no injury reported to the operator or anyone inside, but major damage to the front porch and chimney; the vehicle was towed from the scene, and the operator was cited; report filed.

4:40 p.m. — Report of kids skateboarding, in violation of the downtown business district regulations, on People’s United Bank property; officer found the kids were filming skateboarding for a school project and they were advised of better locations to use.

10:25 p.m. — Domestic disturbance on Federal Street, from where dispatch got two calls regarding a possible domestic in progress; first person reports hearing banging shouting and crashing coming from the floor below for about 10 minutes; second caller, as officers were arriving there, stated there was an argument in an apartment there; found to be a domestic between male and female, but both people were able to be separated for the night, and both will be summoned to court.

Montague, April 16

7:03 p.m. — Caller from G Street reports that two houses down from her is a house where she saw two small children come out of what appeared to be a bedroom window and out onto the roof; the caller was concerned for the children’s safety and didn’t see an adult around; officer spoke to the parents and children, and they said they were not on the roof, but looking out onto it; both children “pinkie swore” that they would not be going out onto the roof.

7:31 p.m. — Caller from Depot Street reports a blue Honda Civic drove onto his street with several people inside, and they left some items behind and drove off toward Greenfield; the caller felt is was suspicious; officer went and examined the items, and then issued a BOLO to Shelburne Control, Greenfield and other departments to stop and hold that vehicle, if spotted, as he believes the items left behind may be the remnants of a theft.

7:34 p.m. — Officer checking on Unity Street where there is a heavy haze of smoke; checked with Turners Falls Fire Department, and they had just given a permit for there; officer found a couple of youths were attempting to start a fire in a small pit at that address; the parents had just left, and the kids will be putting out the fire.

Greenfield, April 17

6:28 a.m. — Fire in a structure reported from Conway Street; officers and fire department sent; WMECO notified, and has a crew responding.

9:21 a.m. — Walk-in from Greenfield Gardens at Pray Drive reports he was assaulted by two people known to him there; the charges will be filed on the victim’s behalf on two people.
