Police Log March 9-14

Sunderland Police, March 9

4:11 a.m. — Report received of a man kicking cars in the parking lot of Sugarloaf Estates. Police arrested Alex Zucker, 21, of Long Plain Road, Sunderland, who was charged with six counts of malicious damage to vehicles.

Orange, March 11

4:04 p.m. — Walk-in from Anderwood Lane requests an officer response, as she believes her summer camp has been broken into; officer responded and found it to be a past breaking and entering.

9:21 p.m. — Shelburne Control reports a call from a reporting person on Wheeler Avenue and she says her boyfriend threw her into a wood stove and was punching her in the head; the reporting person says both had been drinking; arrested Nathan Wayde Benoit, 49, of Wheeler Avenue, Orange, charged with two counts of assault and battery, (domestic) and on a default warrant.

Orange, March 12

4:28 p.m. — A motorist approached a cruiser to advise of two small children left in a gray station wagon while the driver went into the store on East Main Street; officer located the vehicle with two youngsters inside, and the engine idling; a short while later the father did walk out of the store and was advised this wasn’t acceptable and he needs to use better judgement.

8:45 p.m. — Control took a call from the reporting person regarding a motor vehicle hit a telephone pole at Mechanic and Summer streets, and the motor vehicle is trying to leave the scene; units responded, but the motor vehicle was gone on arrival.

Montague, March 12

9:05 a.m. — Reporting person requests an officer regarding an on-going issue involving a former Franklin County Technical School teacher; issue is to be turned over to the officer assigned to the school.

10:25 a.m. — Turners Falls High School requests removal of an irate student who has been suspended; student left and charges may be forthcoming.

11:18 a.m. — Accident reports at Avenue A and Third Street intersection; no injuries reported; information exchanged; and one operator was cited for failure to use care in stopping.

5:02 p.m. — Caller from 11th Street would like to speak with an officer about two threatening messages she received on Facebook from an unknown male in Connecticut; officer investigating.

Greenfield, March 13

1:46 a.m. — Accident reported at Wells and Devens streets, where a vehicle is into a snow bank.

2:10 a.m. — Officer requested on Colrain Street where the reporting person stated that a male has threatened to come shoot her and her sister.

11:19 a.m. — Hit-and-run accident reported from Wilson Avenue where the caller says a vehicle was parked there for two hours and was damaged on the driver’s side rear quarter panel and bumper, second vehicle was identified. Three vehicles were checked.

3:58 p.m. — A reporting person states a child, about 3 years old, is strapped in its car seat in the back of the car, and has been there for about 30 minutes with no adults around; officer spoke with the involved female regarding the unattended child, and a child welfare report was filed.

5:10 p.m. — Caller from area of Ames Street parking lot reports coworkers witnessed a gold color Toyota Avalon back into the reporting person’s silver Kia Sedona, and then take off heading north on School Street.

8:03 p.m. — Arrested Heather Roberts, 34, of Aster Court, Greenfield, on a warrant.

11:47 a.m. — Traffic stop on Main Street near Federal Street for no inspection sticker, investigation led to arrest of Jesse Aaron Stebbins, 23, of Armory Street, Greenfield, charged with possession of class B drug, to wit, cocaine, with intent to distribute, and possession of class B drug, to wit, Suboxone.

Orange, March 13

11:35 a.m. — Assault reported at Mahar Regional School, and a 16-year-old was arrested, and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct.

5:30 p.m. — Shelburne Control took a report of a car off the road and in the water on Daniel Shays Highway; both units responded and found the operator who thought he was pulling into the parking lot, but actually pulled into snow and ice; tow vehicle responded to pull the vehicle out; found there was minor damage to the front end.

5:50 p.m. — Caller from West Myrtle Street reports an intoxicated male on his property; on officer’s arrival the subject was taken into protective custody.

11:05 p.m. — Loud noise disturbance on North Main Street where Control says the tenant in an apartment there is playing loud music; officer told the tenants to keep the noise down.

11:57 p.m. — Traffic stop on New Athol Road; arrested Jennifer L. Marshall, 24, of Coolidge Street, Athol, charged with the plate light violation, expired inspection sticker, and operating with suspended license, subsequence offense.

Montague, March 13

6:04 a.m. — Report of an accident involving two vehicles west of the French King Bridge, on Route 2, but unknown if any injuries.

8:43 a.m. — General disturbance reported downtown where a male has been yelling and screaming for some time; officer said this was a younger male who had a head injury several years ago, which may be contributing to his behavior; he was found and is in custody and en route to Baystate Franklin Medical Center on a mental health evaluation.

11:05 a.m. — Larceny reported at Gary’s Coins and Antiques on Avenue A; flag for the store was stolen.

9:14 p.m. — Arrested Brandon K. Kilburn, 30, of South Prospect Street, Millers Falls, on a default warrant.

Montague, March 14

8:35 a.m. — Walk-in requesting an officer speak to her 10-year-old daughter who is in the car, “kicking and screaming,” because she doesn’t want to go to school; officer spoke with the reporting person and the child; reporting person was advised of her options.

Greenfield, March 14

1:01 a.m. — Traffic stop at Wells and Devens streets for a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the road led to arrest of Lisa Jene Marini, 41, of Conway Street, Greenfield, charged with operating under the influence of liquor, third offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stay within marked lanes, operating with revoked license, possession of class B drug, and possession of a class E drug.

2:55 a.m. — Suspicious person reported in area of Cumberland Farms where a male is trying to open the doors to businesses, and appears to be intoxicated; male was located, taken to the Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

2:30 p.m. — Responded to a report of a fight on Davis Street. No injuries were observed.

3:36 p.m. — Responded to a minor two-car accident in the Interstate 91 rotary.

3:41 p.m. — Responded to a minor accident on Colrain Road.

3:43 p.m. — Responded to a minor accident in the Big Y parking lot.

3:49 p.m. — Responded to a rollover, without injury, on Interstate 91.

4:51 p.m. — Travis Richardson, 22, of Greenfield, will be summoned to court on charges of failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and driving without a license, after a Federal Street traffic stop.

5:07 p.m. — Responded to a minor accident at Federal and Pierce streets.

5:32 p.m. — Brandon Dickinson, 29, of Greenfield, was arrested on a warrant.

8:21 p.m. — Responded to a report of people throwing things at the school administration building.
