Truck debt exclusion vote
GILL — A Proposition 2½ debt exclusion vote for a new highway truck is scheduled for Tuesday, with polls open in the fire station on Main Road from noon until 8 p.m.
As usual with debt exclusion votes, there will be no dollar figure attached to the question, but the vote is required for the purchase of new truck with sander and plow for the highway department, a $155,000 purchase approved at annual town meeting.
According to the town, the truck would add approximately 23 cents to the tax rate and cost the average single-family homeowner $46.30 per year for five years.
Town Administrative Assistant Ray Purington said much of that impact would be absorbed as the new purchase, if approved, would coincide with the end of payments for the last truck purchase.
Expect paving delays
