Energy Fair and farmers market in Gill Saturday

GILL — The Gill Energy Commission plans an educational Energy Fair at the Gill Town Hall, 325 Main Road, Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon to kick off a campaign to reduce energy use in town by 13 percent in 2013. Campaign sign-up begins at the Energy Fair.

The event will be accompanied by an outdoor farmers market.

There will be exhibitors and demonstrations on practices and techniques to track and reduce energy use, develop a more sustainable lifestyle, live more comfortably, save money, and reduce your carbon footprint. From 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. there will be three featured speakers followed by a question and answer segment at 10:45 a.m. This program series will be repeated again from 11 a.m. to noon.

Guest speakers Laura Biddulph of the Center for EcoTechnology, Amy Donovan of the Franklin County Solid Waste Management District and John Walsh of Western Massachusetts Electric Co. will talk about building science, waste disposal, and WMECO programs and tracking and reducing energy consumption, respectively.

Exhibitors include: Renaissance Builders, Gill-Montague fourth-sixth grade recycling class, Solar Store of Greenfield, energy consulting engineer Bart Bales, House Doctor Services, Hanley Green Clean Cleaning, energy reduction/conservation videos made by Janet Masucci of the Gill Energy Commission.
