Overdue water bills face shutdowns Tuesday

MONTAGUE — Beginning Tuesday the Turners Falls Water Department will begin shutting water off at properties with water bills that are more than 90 days overdue.

The original semi-annual bills were mailed on Nov. 1 and were due within 30 days. Payments can be made at the Water Department, 226 Millers Falls Road, or by clicking Pay Water Bill and following the screen directions online at The department is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A drop box is located at the offices to the left of the door. Questions may be directed to the clerk’s office, 413-863-4542.

Erving nomination papers due soon

ERVING — Nomination papers are available from the town clerk’s office and must be returned to that office no later than April 1 with 20 valid signatures of Erving resident registered voters.

Extra signatures are recommended as a buffer in the event someone signs who is not a registered voter, a common occurrence.

The annual elections will be May 6, polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Town Hall.
