Dog licenses available

WENDELL — Dog licenses are available at the Town Clerk’s Office. All dogs 6 months and older must be licensed and tagged every year. Proof of rabies vaccination and the appropriate fee is required. Fee for a neutered or spayed dog is $4 and for an unaltered dog is $5. There is a late fee of $20 for dogs licensed after May 31. Dog licenses may be purchased on Wednesday evenings 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. or Saturday mornings 9:30 to noon. Call 978-544-3395, ext. 102 with any questions.

Nomination papers available

WENDELL — Nomination papers for the annual town election May 6, are now available at the Town Clerk’s Office. The last day to obtain nomination papers is March 14, and the last day to submit nomination papers to the registrars of voters for certification is March 18. Offices are as follows: Selectboard, Board of Assessors, Board of Health, cemetery commissioner, road commissioner and town constable, three-year terms; Planning Board has one position for a five-year term and one position to fill a vacancy for a three-year term; School Committee has one position for a three-year term and one position to fill a vacancy for a one-year term; Library trustees have two positions open for a three-year term; moderator and tree warden are one-year terms

The polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. The deadline to register to vote is April 16. For more information, call the town clerk at 978-544-3395, ext. 102.

Election dates and absentee voting

WENDELL — There are three election dates scheduled for Wendell in 2013 thus far. The date for the state primary is April 30 with a voter registration deadline of April 10. The annual town election is on May 6 with a voter registration deadline of April 16, and the date for the state general election is June 25 with a voter registration deadline of June 5. In addition, the annual town meeting is set to begin at 7 p.m. on June 3 with a voter registration deadline of May 14.

The deadline to obtain an absentee voter application for any election is noon the day prior to the election date. Applications are available at the town clerk’s office or online at: The clerk asks voters to submit applications early to allow sufficient time for the ballot to be mailed and returned by the close of polls on election day. To vote absentee, you must be out of town on the day of the election, have a religious belief that prohibits you from being at the polls, or have a physical disability that prevents you from going to the polls.
