No one hurt in Orange house fire
Structure declared a total loss
Two alarm plus house fire in Orange last night at 41 West Myrtle St. No one was home at the time. Cause is believed to be the wood stove.
ORANGE — No one was hurt in a two-alarm fire that damaged a single-family home Saturday evening, according to Orange firefighters.
Capt. Tim Matthews said the home at 41 West Myrtle St. is a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshall’s office.
Matthews said the Erving, Athol, Phillipston, New Salem, Shutesbury, Gill and Warwick departments turned out to help fight the stubborn blaze.
The fire was reported at 7:53 p.m. and Matthews said the department did not clear the scene until 3 a.m.
