Athol Orange Elks Lodge to host dinner  to benefit local family

Jan. 5 event will help MacDonald family of Orange

ORANGE — The Athol Orange Elks Lodge is hosting a dinner dance benefit for the MacDonald family of Orange on Jan. 5.

The MacDonalds lost their house at 54 North Main St., Orange to a three-alarm fire on Nov. 19.

After hearing of the family’s loss, Jason Royal, of Athol, a member of the Elks Lodge, began planning the event.

“I feel this is something we need to do,” Royal said. “If something like that happened to me, I’d hope someone else would step up to help me.”

There will be fundraising cans around town in Athol and Orange.

Jeff Cole, owner of the Witty’s Funeral Home in Athol and Orange, is also making the Witty’s Community Fund available to accept donations to the family. Checks can be made payable to the Witty’s Community Fund, with the MacDonald family in the memo line, and addressed to Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, MA, 01364.

Royal is looking for volunteers to help with the event. To help out contact, Royal at 978-895-5036.
