Gill real estate taxes likely to increase
GILL — The expected tax rate, not yet set by the state, would mean a $77 tax increase for the average single-family home.
Town Administrative Assistant Ray Purington said the anticipated rate is $15.34 per $1,000 of assessed value, up from $14.55, but the state has not yet set the rate.
Purington said the probable increase is due to a decline in property values and a slight increase in town spending.
Following Monday’s tax hearing, the town will continue with a single tax rate.
Slow your roll
GILL — The Board of Selectmen has asked the police and highway departments to look into ways to slow traffic through the center of town, according to Town Administrative Assistant Ray Purington.
