MONTAGUE — With winter looming the municipal sand pile across from the Highway Department facility at 500 Avenue A is now open to town residents.

Residents are asked to limit themselves to 5 or 10 gallon pails, with pickup trucks and contractors not welcome.

Superintendent search input sought

MONTAGUE — The school district’s search consultants are asking for community input in the search for a permanent Gill-Montague Regional School District superintendent with two upcoming focus groups.

There will be a focus group Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Montague Senior Center, 62 Fifth St., Turners Falls, for interested senior citizens to meet with a representative from the Massachusetts Association of School Committees to give input that will assist in developing a profile for the new Superintendent of Schools.

A second session will be held Nov. 28 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Turners Falls High School Theater for interested parents and community members.

The search consultants have also issued an online survey for community members at, available in the District News menu on the Gill-Montague website at www.gmrsd.org.

Office closed

GILL — The office of the Board of Assessors and the Town Clerk will be closed Nov. 28.
