Medical group alleges theft by former manager

NORTHAMPTON — A former manager of a Northampton doctor’s office has been accused of embezzling $1.8 million from her employers over a seven-year span.

A civil suit against Roxanne Tubolino was filed in Hampshire Superior Court late last month by her former employer, Northampton Internal Medicine Associates of Florence.

On Tuesday, Judge Bertha Josephson allowed a preliminary injunction against Tubolino to prevent her from putting any money in her 401(k) retirement account.

That account has approximately $310,000 in it, according to the suit which was filed by attorneys Michael Angelini and Mark Powers of Worcester on behalf of Northampton Internal Medicine where Tubolino was the office manager from September 1996 until September 2013 when evidence of the fraud was discovered.

During that time, the suit alleges, Tubolino wrote fraudulent checks for personal expenses and then falsified office records to conceal those thefts.

The suit is seeking unspecified damages including court and attorney costs and interest.
