Writers’ Lunch: The LeVanway Meeting Room is open each Monday through Thursday, noon to 2 p.m. for a Writers’ Lunch. This is a self-directed free writing time open to any writer who is looking for a place to work through their lunch. Bring your lunch and beverage. Preschool Story Hour: Parents with children, age 5 and younger, join us on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. for a weekly hour of story and craft time fun with Sally Ahearn. No sign-up is required for this free program. For more information, call the children’s librarian at 772-1544, ext. 5.

Chess Club: Meet other chess players on Wednesdays at the GPL from 5:50 to 7:45 p.m. in the LeVanway Room downstairs. Contact: with any questions.

Mother Goose on the Loose: Join Kay Lyons at a lap-sit story hour for children, age 3 and younger with a grown-up, every Friday at 11 a.m. at the library. Rhymes, songs and movement games make up this story time. Each session is 45 minutes with 30 minutes of structured activity and 15 minutes of visiting time.

Open for Business: Telecommuters and local business people looking for reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet workspace are invited to the library’s LeVanway Meeting Room on Mondays and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m. Access to the room is free and open to all who need a space to work.

Writers Workshop: This two-hour writing workshop runs on Fridays, noon to 2 p.m. Buchanan and Joannah Whitney lead the program, which includes writing exercises and discussion, as well as an opportunity to share what has been written. Participants are encouraged to attend the open writing periods during the week as well. There is no charge for the workshop; registration is not required. Author Reading and Talk: On April 28 at 6 p.m., Anne Maxwell, author, therapist, and Access Consciousness Facilitator, will speak about her new books, “Would You Teach a Fish to Climb a Tree? A Different Take on Kids with ADD, ADHD, OCD and Autism” and “The Keys to the Magic” (a book about Play Therapy: approaches and applications).
