Celebrate National Library Week at the GPL:

Sunshine Story Time: Every Monday at 10 a.m., Kay Lyons brings a blend of read-aloud, sing-along, play-along fun to families with young children. For further information, contact Lyons at 772-1544, ext. 5.

Writers’ Lunch: The LeVanway Meeting Room is open each Monday through Thursday, noon to 2 p.m. for a Writers’ Lunch. This is a self-directed free writing time open to any writer who is looking for a place to work through their lunch. Contact Jane Buchanan at 772-1544 for more details.

Open for Business: Telecommuters and local business people looking for reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet workspace are invited to the library’s LeVanway Meeting Room on Mondays and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m.

‘The Amish, Shunned’: A free screening of a film featuring the story of local author Saloma Furlong will be shown tonight at 6 in the LeVanway Room. Furlong, author of “Why I Left the Amish” and “Bonnet Strings,” will be speaking at the library on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Preschool Story Hour: Parents with children, age 5 and younger, join us on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. for a weekly hour of story and craft time fun. For more information, call 772-1544, ext. 5.

Library in Stitches: Quilt show and tell from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Share your work and see and hear about projects in progress.

Creative Nonfiction Writing Workshop: This workshop, from 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, is led by Joannah Whitney. For more information, call 772-1544, ext. 110.

Classics Book Club: “Dracula” by Bram Stoker will be the topic of discussion on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

How to Download Library eBooks: Learn to download library books to your tablet Wednesday at 10 a.m. Sign up is required. Call Hannah for details or to sign up at 772-1544, ext. 6.

Chess Club Games Night: Everyone is invited to play games Wednesday at the GPL at 5:30 p.m. in the LeVAnway Room. Bring your favorite game.

Crafts for Adults: Create crafts from old books with Marjorie and Hannah at 10 a.m. on Thursday. In this workshop for adults, participants will use hot glue and sharp tools to create paper flowers, wreaths, etc.

Crafts for Children: At 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Lori Gordon will lead a workshop on weaving paper baskets.

Writers Workshop: This two-hour writing workshop runs on Fridays, noon to 2 p.m. For details, contact Buchanan at 772-1544.

Friday Movie: “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” will be shown on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Come and get ready for the “Willie Wonka” book party on May 10.

Virtual Poetry Slam: Read a poem aloud on video at the library or submit a video you film at home. For details, see
