Montague Park and Rec Notebook

EGGstravaganza: 9th Annual Peter Cottontai event, April 19, 1 p.m., Sheffield back fields. Children age 4 to 12 are invited to take part in this community tradition. Pictures taken with Peter Cottontail, enter into a bunch of raffles and, of course, the department’s Egg Hunt with 5,000 candy and toy-filled eggs. Participants must bring their own basket/bag for the eggs. Co-sponsors are Hillside Plastics, Montague Elks, Greenfield Savings Bank & Sirum Equipment Co.

Tee Ball: Children age 4 to 6, April 26 to June 7. Child must be at least 4 years of age before the start date of the program. Proof of age will be required at time of registration, Saturdays, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Early Bird Registration Fee: Montague Residents, $30; nonresidents, $35. (Last Day of Early Bird Rates, March 28). Montague residents, $35; nonresidents, $40. (Registrations after March 28)

Rookie Leagues: Ages 6 to 8; April 26 to June 7. Saturdays, 9 to 10:15 a.m. Montague residents, $35; nonresidents, $40. (Includes hat/shirt/pants).

Rookie League Baseball & Girls Rookie League Softball: Programs play separately from one another. The department recommends kindergarten players start with Tee Ball before playing Rookie ball. This is a coach-pitch program. All players must bring their own glove — cleats allowed. Enrollment maximum dependent upon number of parents who volunteer coach.

Adult Coed “B” Softball League: Adults, age 18 and older. If you have a team and a sponsor, you’re halfway there. If you are interested in joining as an individual player, you will be placed on a list that will be distributed to all league captains. The season is mid-May to mid-August. Games are Monday and Thursday evenings. Fee: $550 per team (softballs included). Team registration deadline is April 18.

Spring Tennis Lessons: May 3 to June 14, for children, age 7 and older, Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon. Montague residents, $45; nonresidents, $50. Registration deadline, April 25.
